In order to prevent my children from a chorus of “I’m bored. . . ” this summer, we made a list of activities that we want to do in the summertime and hung it on the back of the pantry door. It is complete with pictures for the non-readers (”illiterates” sounds too harsh, don’t you think?). So far we’ve been heavy on the treats: make popsicles, go for a walk and buy a soda, make a new recipe, etc. and light on the physically demanding: go hiking in the mountains, go on a bike ride, hunt for snakes (that was my husband’s idea). It has been a success because its given my kids some fun ideas and it also stands as proof that there is, indeed, something to do.

Kacy says: Good idea. Whenever they tell me they are bored I tell them to clean a toilet. You have cute handwriting, too.
Kristy says: I'm diggin' those visual aids! You should go on America's Got Talent and just come out on stage with a door and some markers. David Hasselhoff might even blow you a drunken kiss.
