This week’s Free Stuff (see below) got me thinking about what movies I would spend my $50 on should I win. I would buy tickets to Hancock, The Incredible Hulk, The X-Files Movie, and of course The Dark Knight. Then I got to thinking some more. . .
I have been eagerly anticipating this year’s Batman movie for a long time. I watched the live-action TV series Batman and Robin as a kid. I thought it was pretty entertaining, but Adam West never struck me as very impressive.
The summer after my junior year they made a movie out of Batman starring Michael Keaton. I was all, “Mr. Mom?” It was actually pretty good because Jack Nicholson was The Joker and Prince did the soundtrack. Then things sort of spun out of control while Val Kilmer and George Clooney took turns as Bruce Wayne. Holy you-saved-the-franchise, Christian Bale! Thanks to Batman Begins, we’re back in business, baby.
The Dark Knight looks awesome and comes out July 18th. Or course, it is troubling. . .
The death of Heath Ledger was very sad–especially the pointlessness of it–and what I’m about to say will surely seem shallow in the grand scheme of things but, seriously, I think it’s going to freak me out to watch him as The Joker in The Dark Knight. (I’m also really looking forward to it.)

Kristy says: Never got around to seeing "Batman Begins", currently googling Christian Bale...let's see here...click on 'Images'...well then. He is NOT bad.
Lisa says: I love, and still stand behind, Michael Keaton's performance in "Mr. Mom." It's his best performance ever. Prince's soundtrack for his Batman movie is also really, really good. Do these statements date me?
Emily says: Christian Bale. Mmmmmm. Never, in any version of Little Women, printed or filmed, did I feel sorrier for Jo that she didn't get to marry Laurie.
