Dear Internet,
Should I start wearing Bermuda shorts or are my knees too chubby? Let me know what you think.

Kacy
PS You know, the long straight ones with a wedge or a sandal.

Kacy, I think you can pull it off, because the force of your personality will outshine your wardrobe choices, regardless of your knees, wedges or sandals.
Sigh, I did too.
But the new ones really are longer and more flattering. I gave in a couple months ago…not bad!
YES! I’m going with YES!
(But then there’s the whole shaving-the-legs-almost-every-day thing. Sigh.)
But I still say YES!
You can totally pull it off. Go for it.
It gets hot enough and I just wear the shorts – and don’t care what people think. Because when it gets hot enough, a lot of people are wearing stuff that’s not very flattering – and I figure they are too hot to notice my chubby knees or by fat ankles or my white, veiny legs.
An aside though – don’t wear them to school if you are a middle school teacher – those kids will say something – frank, honest and to the point!!
The trick is to find the shorts that ever so slightly flare at the bottom. They’re much more flattering. I have some from a couple of years ago, and I love them. Old Navy, unfortunately, decided to make only tapered shorts this year (I know, because I tried every single pair on). This is not pretty. Unless you’ve got skinny thighs.

Emily says: For what it's worth, I've never heard anyone make snide comments about another person's chubby knees. I think you're safe - unless you have an unfortunately amateurish encounter with a can of spray-on self-tanner that, despite people's assurances, really doesn't fade in two or three days. Then you might be consigned to a whole summer in long pants. Um . . . not that I'd know from personal experience, of course.
Lisa says: Dear Kacy, I'm just using Lisa's account. It's really me. I think your knees are cute and Target has some cute Bermuda shorts, so you should totally go for it. Love always, The Internet
