Poll: Are you a Reader?

Kristy, Kacy: you bring up an interesting question. I’m curious how many of our READERS consider themselves Readers with a capital R. And how many of you are just readers. Be honest. No one from your book club is going to know if you don’t really read the book and just go for the delicious spinach dip.

Are you a reader?

  1. You didn’t include one between the first and second options! :) I love reading and read lots and lots, but not to the exclusion of everything as the first option seems to indicate.

Ditto, liahonagirl–I was hoping for an option in-between the first and second, too…

I have to admit that I’m a #1, but I always thought I was just weird. I’m glad to see there are other people like me out there. :)

I’d like to be a #1 but there are too many other things to do. . . oh wait . . .yep. the dishes are calling me!

I read way, way too much in my children’s opinions. I hope they don’t grow up thinking that Mom’s standard answer to questions was, “Whuh? Can you ask me again in five minutes? I need to finish this chapter.” Thank goodness for the invention of blogs so I can look productive while sitting at my computer, when really, I’m just reading.

  6. Yeah you need one between one and two; I read until the guilt of ignoring my family is too great to ignore, clean house and cook and drive like a maniac, and then get back to my book.

    Books are my crack.
I had to vote in the “I’d love to read more but..” category, because it’s absolutely true. If I gave in to my reading obsession I would read ’til everything around me fell apart and my kids died of starvation, or were buried under piles of laundry and toys and junk. I love to read and I have no self control about it once I get started.
So I have to limit myself to just a few times a year of letting myself get sucked into a book. Because I am not capable of moderation when it comes to books. It’s either devour the book or don’t read it.

I chose the second one but I think maybe the first one would be more accurate if you count online reading. I’m all over the political blogs and regular blogs like this one. Yes, there are many things that need to be done at my house but not until I’m finished reading.

I was hoping for an option above #1. If I am not reading(like when I am driving the car or washing the dishes)I am listening. I probably need a 12 step program. Hopefully it’s in book form :0)

I guess I would’ve gone for a 1 1/2 option as well. Although I used to let the world fall apart, there’s more of it now and my reading time is cut shorter (especially now that I don’t nurse the baby, that was a great excuse). I’ve also been watching too much sarahvision (I mean television).
