Poll: Which Halloween Candy Goes First?

Why doesn’t Bit-O-Honey get the love? I am a chewy candy girl, and I love a fresh Bit-O-Honey over a mini Snickers any day. How about you?

What goes first at your house?

• Chocolate/Nougat candy bars: including Snickers, Twix, 3 Musketeers, etc.
• Soft Chewy: Swedish Fish, Tootsie Rolls, Jelly Bellys, Laffy Taffy, Bit-O-Honey (fresh), Twizzlers, etc.
• Hard Crunchy: Heath Bars, Buttefingers, Lollipops, Sweetarts, Pez, etc.
• Straight Chocolate: M&M's, Hershey's chocolate bars, you know... chocolate.
• Other (Please describe in the comments)

   I love the candy like bottle caps and sweet tarts and skittles. I even love smarties.

   What? I’m the only hard candy love? Toffee? Caramel apple suckers? Butterfingers? Yum!

   Chocolate/Peanut Butter - next would be Chocolate/cookie crunch (a twix goes here and then chocolate caramel - rolo - see and heath and butterfinger… they don’t go with sweetarts.

   I tried to vote for all 4! What can I say, I’m an equal opportunity candy lover. I was trying to explain the smell of a halloween bucket and it’s pure deliciousness but no one understood. Perhaps I’ll find someone in common on this post!

   When I was a kid the majority of the candy was chocolate and bubble gum. Yesterday it seemed it was hard candy mostly. I don’t like the hard candy unless I have a sore throat. Chocolate is my fave, with chocolate/cookie combinations next, then cinnamon bears. Bit O Honey is good when I need something flavorful to last a loooong time. Of course afterwards I have to brush a looong time.

   I like to make it look even so they don’t know I’m stealing all the candy. BUT, I do take out my favorites and hide them for the very last–Butterfingers, Twix, Milky Way.

   I would put Butterfingers in with the candy bars, they are covered in chocolate after all. It’s funny, I always go for the chocolate first, but I don’t like 3 Musketeers or Milky Way’s. I’d eat a lot of non-chocolate candy before those.
   Chocolate + Peanut Butter = Heaven!

   I guess I have a lot to say about candy: Mormonhermitmom, I wonder whether all this talk of recession has people cutting back on the more expensive chocolate candy and buying the harder candy instead. I’d guess it’s cheaper? I’d like a scientific poll on how the economy affects trick-or-treating candy…

    sweet and salty as in Payday! Yum! Not too much sweet but just the right amount. Also, Hersheys kisses dipped in regular peanut butter. A much better mix. It seems like the “peanut butter” part of Reese’s has gotten sweeter.

    Why is it that every Halloween I remember just how perfect Baby Ruth candy bars are? It must be the ADD. Once we crack open the pumpkin pie, it’s like Halloween never happened. Ditto for Christmas Sugar Cookies and Gingerbread people?(When I was a kid it was Gingerbread Men, but I digress. The ADD again.) Baby Ruth, I promise I’ll be back again some day next October.
