My Own “Good News Minute”

Interesting timing Kristy has on seeking for good news. Because I have just gotten the news I’ve been waiting for. My book is on the shelves at last!

It may just be new-mom pride, but I sure think this baby is cute! One of the most interesting things about writing a book is seeing how an outside designer interprets your thoughts visually. In this case, I think Sheryl Dickert Smith hit the nail right on the head.

Here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions I’ve been fielding:

1. No, the feet aren’t mine. It’s just a stock photo. But I’ve been there, for sure. The first time I sat on an exercise ball like that, I went right down. It’s harder to balance on than it looks!

2. The book is not about exercising. Do not worry. It’s a series of short “emotional/spiritual exercises,” 31 of them, one for each day of the month, like “An Exercise in Patience” or “An Exercise in Perspective” or “An Exercise in Understanding Men.”

3. I wrote the book long before we joined the gym. That’s part of what made the gym membership such an exquisite irony.

Anyway, you can read more about it here if you want to. I just wanted to take a minute to rejoice with my friends that it’s done and it’s real and it’s out!

Congratulations! My SIL sent me your “Being the Mom” while I was expecting my fourth (born 2 months ago) and I read the whole thing while sitting in the hospital after he was born wishing they would release me so I could go home with him to my other three. It made me laugh and cry and really helped my perspective in those first few weeks after he was born. Thanks! Now that he’s 2 months and “exercise” is the answer to my current issues I’m excited to read your book and hope it will motivate me through the next few months!

Yay! A new summer read! Your books are sooooo cool! I still use your chicken recipe from Being the Mom. Just had it when the missionaries came to dinner last week. :) Can’t wait!

I know I sound whiny (and I am!) – but can you believe I have to wait clear until 5pm to walk across the street to buy this? I can’t wait to dive into it! :)

My firstborn child came to us through the blessing of adoption. When I delivered our second baby, just a year later… I said… and I quote… “it’s done. She’s real. And she’s out!”

Congrats on the new book. It’s on my list to get… it sounds like it would be perfect for me!!

  9. That IS one adorable baby, and I’m sure it took a lot of effort to get it out. Congrats!

Congrats! I’m excited to check it out! And from the comments, it looks like I need to check out Being the Mom too. I’m pumped to have two new books ready to read (and GOOD ones too, because you know what a gamble it is to just pick something off the store shelf.)
